Straight A's since 2012! Inova Loudoun Hospital is one of only 42 hospitals nationwide (and the only hospital in Northern Virginia) to earn "straight A's" since the inception of the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade in 2012. An "A" grade is one of the most meaningful honors a hospital can achieve, and one of the most valuable indicators for patients looking for a safe place to receive care. Developed under the guidance of an expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to approximately 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.

HealthGrades comments about the award include: “If you need to be admitted into a hospital, the last thing you would expect is to become unnecessarily sicker. Patient safety measures how well a hospital prevents injuries, infections, and other serious conditions based on 14 serious, potentially preventable adverse events. The Patient Safety Excellence Award recognizes hospitals that have the lowest occurrences of 14 preventable patient safety events. These hospitals are in the top 10% in the nation for patient safety”.
